Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Public Relations Officer to join our communications team based in Warrington. This role is crucial in maintaining a positive public image for Marks & Spencer, managing media relations, and contributing to our brand’s narrative. You will be responsible for developing and implementing PR strategies, handling press inquiries, and ensuring consistent messaging across all external communications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive public relations strategies and campaigns.
  • Manage media relations, including writing press releases, media advisories, and creating press kits.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for media inquiries and build strong relationships with journalists and influencers.
  • Monitor media coverage and industry trends, providing insights and recommendations.
  • Assist in crisis communication planning and response, ensuring timely and accurate information dissemination.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing, brand, and corporate affairs, to ensure consistent messaging.
  • Organize and manage PR events, press conferences, and media briefings.
  • Prepare reports on PR campaign effectiveness and media coverage.
  • Support the creation of engaging content for various communication channels.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in public relations, corporate communications, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong media relations skills and a network of media contacts.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Experience within the retail sector or a large corporate environment.
  • Knowledge of digital PR strategies and social media management for brand reputation.
  • Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., CIPR, PRCA).
