Job Description
Are you looking for an opportunity to start a career in construction and aren’t afraid of hard work? Skanska USA Civil is seeking motivated and dedicated individuals to join our team as Rebar Tying Assistants. This is an entry-level position where you will learn essential rebar tying techniques and contribute to critical structural elements of our projects. You’ll be working in a dynamic outdoor environment, requiring physical stamina and a commitment to safety. Full on-the-job training will be provided, making this an ideal role for those eager to learn and grow within the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist experienced ironworkers in positioning and securing rebar according to blueprints and instructions.
- Learn and perform rebar tying using various tools and methods, including tie wire and rebar tying guns.
- Help move, lift, and stage rebar materials safely around the job site.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols and company guidelines.
- Operate basic hand tools and power tools under supervision.
- Report any safety concerns or equipment malfunctions to a supervisor immediately.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn new skills.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to all job site safety regulations.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions effectively.
- Basic understanding of measurements and a keen eye for detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a labor-intensive role is a plus, but not required.
- High school diploma or GED.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification (or willingness to obtain).
