Job Description
We are seeking reliable and hardworking individuals to join our team as Refuse Loaders / Bin Collectors. This full-time position involves working early mornings, ensuring the timely and safe collection of refuse and recycling from residential and commercial properties. You will be an integral part of our operations, contributing directly to community sanitation and environmental efforts. This role requires physical stamina, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively as part of a crew. Weekly pay ensures you are compensated promptly for your essential contributions.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently collect refuse and recycling bins along designated routes.
- Operate compaction equipment on the refuse truck as instructed.
- Assist the driver with navigating routes and reversing the vehicle.
- Handle materials according to established safety guidelines and company policies.
- Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Adhere to all local, provincial, and company safety regulations.
- Provide excellent service to the community by ensuring timely collections.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects repeatedly (up to 50 lbs).
- Reliability and punctuality for early morning shifts.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to safety procedures.
- Team-oriented attitude and good communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently when required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a physically demanding role or outdoor work.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license (an asset, but not mandatory).
- Familiarity with waste management practices or routes in Prince Edward Island.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for minor equipment checks.
