Job Description

Join Codecademy as a Remote Coding Tutor, focusing on Junior Tech Mentorship! In this critical role, you will guide aspiring coders, providing personalized support, feedback, and encouragement as they navigate their learning journey. This is a 100% remote position, offering the flexibility to work from your preferred location within Echuca, VIC, and contribute to a global community of learners. You will primarily assist junior learners with foundational coding concepts, debugging, and project development, fostering a positive and engaging learning environment. We are looking for individuals passionate about technology and dedicated to helping others unlock their potential in the world of coding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and small group remote tutoring sessions to junior learners.
  • Offer clear explanations of complex coding concepts in an accessible manner.
  • Review learner code, provide constructive feedback, and assist with debugging.
  • Help learners develop problem-solving skills and project-based thinking.
  • Motivate and encourage learners, fostering a positive and persistent learning attitude.
  • Track learner progress and adapt teaching methods to individual needs.
  • Collaborate with the Codecademy team to improve learning materials and tutoring best practices.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in at least one major programming language (e.g., Python, JavaScript, HTML/CSS).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience and empathy, with a strong desire to help others learn.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
  • Reliable internet connection and a suitable remote work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in tutoring, teaching, or mentoring.
  • Familiarity with Codecademy's platform and learning methodologies.
  • Experience with version control systems like Git/GitHub.
  • Basic understanding of web development frameworks or data science libraries.
  • A degree or certification in Computer Science, Education, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
