Job Description
Are you looking for an opportunity to make a tangible difference in your community? Campbelltown City Council is seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our team as Resource Recovery Hands at our busy Council Recycling Center. This is an entry-level position where no prior experience in waste management is required – we provide comprehensive on-the-job training to equip you with all the necessary skills. You will play a crucial role in the sorting, processing, and management of recyclable materials, contributing directly to our environmental sustainability efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Manually sort and separate various recyclable materials (e.g., plastics, paper, glass, metals) on the processing line.
- Operate basic machinery and equipment as required, after receiving appropriate training.
- Ensure the recycling center grounds are kept clean, tidy, and free of hazards.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of materials.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or unusual waste items to supervisors.
- Work collaboratively with team members to achieve daily operational targets.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
- Commitment to workplace safety and environmental best practices.
- Basic communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Australian C-class driver's license.
- Previous experience in a similar manual labor or outdoor work environment (though not required, it is a plus).
- General understanding of recycling principles.
