Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our dedicated team at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust in Coventry. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a crucial role in the assessment, treatment, and management of patients with respiratory conditions across various departments, including intensive care, general wards, and outpatient clinics. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care. Full support will be provided for the visa application process and integration into the UK healthcare system.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive respiratory assessments and diagnostic procedures.
- Initiate, monitor, and adjust ventilator settings and other life support equipment.
- Administer respiratory medications and therapeutic gases.
- Provide airway management and suctioning.
- Educate patients and their families on respiratory conditions and treatment plans.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Participate in emergency response situations, including cardiac arrests.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and national guidelines.
- Participate in continuous professional development and training.
Required Skills
- Degree or Diploma in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Current professional registration/licensure in your country of practice (e.g., Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or equivalent).
- Eligibility for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) in the UK upon arrival.
- Minimum of 2 years post-qualification clinical experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
- Proficiency in the operation and maintenance of respiratory equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Commitment to patient safety and quality care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a large acute care hospital setting.
- Specialised experience in intensive care or paediatric respiratory therapy.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Experience with non-invasive ventilation (NIV) and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) therapy.
- Demonstrated commitment to research or quality improvement initiatives.
