Job Description
Are you eager to dive into the dynamic and fast-paced world of retail? London Drugs is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Retail Buying & Assortment Intern to join our Headquarters team in Nanaimo, BC. This entry-level internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in merchandise planning, vendor relations, and inventory management. You will work closely with experienced buyers and category managers, learning the intricate processes involved in bringing products from concept to store shelves. This role is perfect for someone passionate about retail, looking to build a foundational understanding of the buying process, and ready to contribute to real-world projects. Key Responsibilities
- Assist buyers with data analysis, market research, and trend spotting to inform purchasing decisions and category strategies.
- Support in the preparation of vendor meetings, including creating presentations and compiling relevant product information and performance metrics.
- Help maintain product databases, ensuring accuracy of pricing, inventory levels, and detailed product specifications.
- Collaborate with merchandising and marketing teams on product launches, promotional activities, and in-store displays.
- Learn about inventory flow and assist in managing stock levels to optimize product availability across our retail network.
- Contribute to assortment planning by researching competitor offerings, analyzing consumer preferences, and identifying market gaps.
- Perform administrative tasks as needed to support the buying department's daily operations and strategic initiatives.
