Job Description
Are you looking for a hands-on career where you can learn valuable skills and operate heavy machinery? EMR Metal Recycling is seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Trainee Scrap Metal Crane Operator to join our team in Sunderland. No prior experience is required, as we provide comprehensive training from the ground up. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals eager to learn the intricacies of operating state-of-the-art cranes, handling various types of scrap metal, and contributing to our essential recycling processes. You will be part of a supportive team, learning safe operational practices and developing a crucial skill set that is highly valued in the industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Undergo and successfully complete all provided training on crane operation and safety procedures.
- Learn to safely operate overhead and mobile cranes to sort, load, and unload scrap metal materials.
- Assist with the organization and proper stacking of materials in designated areas.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on machinery and report any defects or maintenance needs.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Work effectively as part of a team, communicating clearly with colleagues and supervisors.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs.
Required Skills
- Strong willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Commitment to safety and following established procedures.
- Good hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness (will be developed through training).
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced industrial environment.
