Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically fit Scrap Yard Vehicle Dismantler to join our team in Hackney. This is a hands-on role involving the safe and efficient dismantling of various types of vehicles for parts recovery and material segregation. You will be working in a dynamic, sometimes dirty, environment, utilizing a range of power and hand tools to strip vehicles, manage fluids, and separate materials. Key Responsibilities
- Safely dismantle end-of-life vehicles using appropriate hand and power tools.
- Identify, remove, and prepare salvageable components and parts for inventory.
- Properly drain and manage all vehicle fluids in accordance with environmental regulations.
- Segregate various materials, including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and rubber.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.
- Adhere strictly to all company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Assist with general yard duties and material handling as required.
Required Skills
- Proven mechanical aptitude and comfort working with vehicle components.
- Demonstrable ability to safely and effectively use a variety of hand and power tools.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- High level of attention to detail for identifying parts and segregating materials correctly.
- A strong commitment to workplace safety and following established protocols.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a scrap yard, automotive workshop, or similar industrial environment.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle systems and components (e.g., engines, transmissions, electrical).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., forklift operation) are a plus but not essential.
- Full UK driving license.
