Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Junior Scrum Master to join our dynamic development team in Guildford. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about Agile methodologies and eager to grow their career as a Scrum Master within a leading entertainment company. As a Junior Scrum Master, you will be instrumental in guiding and coaching one of our development teams, helping them to adopt and live by Scrum values and practices. You will facilitate Scrum ceremonies, remove impediments, and foster an environment of continuous improvement and collaboration. Full training and mentorship will be provided, making this an ideal role for individuals with foundational knowledge of Agile and a strong desire to learn and contribute.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate daily Scrum, sprint planning, sprint review, and sprint retrospective meetings.
  • Support the Product Owner in maintaining the product backlog and ensuring clear communication of product goals.
  • Coach the development team in self-organization and cross-functionality, ensuring a deep understanding of Agile principles.
  • Help the team to remove impediments and blockers to their progress.
  • Protect the team from external distractions and ensure focus on sprint goals.
  • Promote continuous improvement by helping the team inspect and adapt their process.
  • Track and communicate team progress using appropriate Agile metrics.
  • Foster a collaborative and transparent environment within the team and with stakeholders.

Required Skills

  • Foundational understanding of Agile principles and the Scrum framework.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly.
  • Strong problem-solving aptitude and a proactive approach to challenges.
  • High degree of enthusiasm and eagerness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate discussions and guide groups towards consensus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
  • Entry-level Scrum Master certification (e.g., CSM, PSM I, SAFe Scrum Master).
  • Any prior experience in a team leadership, project coordination, or facilitation role (even outside of tech).
  • Basic knowledge of software development lifecycles and technical concepts.
