Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our dynamic team in Scranton, PA. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to diagnose speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and evidence-based practices.
  • Provide direct therapy services to patients in various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and acute care.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and physical therapists.
  • Educate patients and their families on communication strategies, swallowing techniques, and home exercise programs.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient evaluations, treatment progress, and discharge summaries.
  • Participate in professional development activities and continuing education to stay current with best practices in speech-language pathology.
  • Adhere to all ethical and professional standards set forth by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and state licensure boards.

Required Skills

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Eligibility for or current state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Pennsylvania.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA or eligibility to obtain within a specified timeframe.
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills for diverse communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative healthcare team.
  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity when working with patients and families.
  • Commitment to ethical practice and patient-centered care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of post-licensure clinical experience in a hospital or medical setting.
  • Experience with a variety of patient populations, including neurological, geriatric, and pediatric.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Specialized certifications or advanced training in specific areas (e.g., FEES, MBS, voice therapy, aphasia treatment).
  • Multilingual abilities, particularly Spanish or other languages common in the community.
