Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our dynamic team in Scranton, PA. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating individuals with communication and swallowing disorders across various age groups and clinical populations. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to diagnose speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and evidence-based practices.
- Provide direct therapy services to patients in various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and acute care.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and physical therapists.
- Educate patients and their families on communication strategies, swallowing techniques, and home exercise programs.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient evaluations, treatment progress, and discharge summaries.
- Participate in professional development activities and continuing education to stay current with best practices in speech-language pathology.
- Adhere to all ethical and professional standards set forth by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and state licensure boards.
Required Skills
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Eligibility for or current state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Pennsylvania.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA or eligibility to obtain within a specified timeframe.
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills for diverse communication and swallowing disorders.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative healthcare team.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity when working with patients and families.
- Commitment to ethical practice and patient-centered care.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-3 years of post-licensure clinical experience in a hospital or medical setting.
- Experience with a variety of patient populations, including neurological, geriatric, and pediatric.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Specialized certifications or advanced training in specific areas (e.g., FEES, MBS, voice therapy, aphasia treatment).
- Multilingual abilities, particularly Spanish or other languages common in the community.
