Job Description
Spectrum Health is actively seeking a passionate and dedicated Speech and Language Pathologist to join our dynamic team in Grand Rapids, MI. As a Speech and Language Pathologist, you will play a crucial role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating individuals with communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices.
- Provide direct therapy services to patients of all ages within various clinical settings.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and physical therapists.
- Educate patients and their families on communication strategies and home exercises.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient progress and treatment plans.
- Participate in departmental meetings, inservice trainings, and continuing education activities.
Required Skills
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA or eligibility for ASHA CCCs.
- Current or eligible for Michigan State licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and ethical practice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in acute care, rehabilitation, or outpatient settings.
- Experience with specific patient populations (e.g., dysphagia, neurological disorders, pediatric feeding).
- Board certification or advanced training in specialized areas (e.g., FEES, MBSImP).
- Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Multilingual abilities are a plus.
