Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Stable Hand to join our team for morning shifts. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a genuine passion for horses, eager to learn and grow within the equestrian industry. As a Stable Hand, you will be instrumental in the daily care and management of our horses, ensuring their comfort and health. Full training will be provided to the right candidate who demonstrates reliability, a strong work ethic, and a love for animals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily feeding routines for all horses according to specific diets.
  • Muck out stables thoroughly and maintain clean bedding.
  • Turn horses out to paddocks and bring them in as required.
  • Groom horses, including brushing, hoof picking, and basic health checks.
  • Clean and disinfect water troughs and feed buckets.
  • Assist with basic first aid and medication administration under supervision.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the stable yard, tack room, and feed room.
  • Report any signs of illness, injury, or unusual behaviour in horses to management immediately.
  • Assist with general property maintenance tasks as needed.

Required Skills

  • A genuine and demonstrable passion for horses and animal welfare.
  • Reliability and punctuality for early morning shifts.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new routines and practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with horses, whether professional or personal (e.g., owning horses, volunteering at a stable).
  • Basic knowledge of horse behaviour and care.
  • Current driver's license.
  • Ability to operate basic farm machinery (e.g., wheelbarrow, stable cart).
