Job Description
Montgomery College is seeking a dedicated and experienced Student Affairs Director to lead our student support services and foster a positive, inclusive campus environment. This pivotal role involves overseeing a comprehensive range of programs designed to enhance student life, promote academic success, and ensure student well-being. The Director will play a key role in developing and implementing policies, managing staff, and collaborating with various departments to create an enriching student experience. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the strategic planning, development, and implementation of student affairs programs and services, including counseling, career services, student activities, and disability support.
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate student affairs staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team.
- Develop and manage the departmental budget, ensuring responsible allocation of resources.
- Ensure compliance with all college policies, federal and state regulations, and accreditation standards related to student affairs.
- Serve as a key advocate for students, addressing concerns, mediating disputes, and promoting student rights and responsibilities.
- Collaborate with academic departments, faculty, and other administrative units to integrate student support services with the overall educational mission of the college.
- Develop and implement crisis intervention protocols and emergency response plans for student-related issues.
- Foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive campus environment that supports the success of all students.
Required Skills
- Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Student Affairs, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in student affairs within a higher education setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of student development theories and best practices in student support services.
- Strong leadership, management, and supervisory skills.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and staff.
- Experience with budget management and resource allocation.
- Proficiency in relevant student information systems and technology.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in a related field.
- Experience in a community college environment.
- Familiarity with visa sponsorship processes and supporting international students.
- Proven track record of innovation in student programming and services.
- Experience with accreditation processes.
