Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Student Services Manager to lead our student support team in Exeter. This role is crucial for ensuring a positive and enriching experience for all students, from their arrival through to their progression to university. The successful candidate will manage all aspects of student welfare, accommodation, activities, and pastoral care, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Student Services department.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Student Services Officers and Assistants.
- Develop and implement student welfare policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with safeguarding regulations.
- Coordinate student induction, orientation, and social activities programs.
- Manage student accommodation placements and support, liaising with housing providers.
- Provide pastoral care and support to students, including advising on personal, academic, and immigration matters.
- Handle student disciplinary issues and complaints in accordance with established policies.
- Maintain accurate student records and generate reports as required.
- Collaborate with academic staff and other departments to ensure a seamless student experience.
- Ensure adherence to UKVI (UK Visas and Immigration) compliance for international students.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in student welfare, student services, or a similar pastoral role, preferably within an educational setting.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse student populations.
- Thorough understanding of safeguarding principles and best practices.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Proficiency in using student management systems and standard office software.
- A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Education, Social Sciences, Management).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience working with international students.
- Knowledge of UKVI regulations and compliance requirements.
- First Aid and Mental Health First Aid certifications.
