Job Description
Are you looking to kickstart your career in a dynamic and essential industry? Fyfe Pty Ltd is seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as a Surveying Field Assistant in Port Lincoln. This is an incredible entry-level opportunity where no prior experience is required – we provide comprehensive, hands-on training from day one. You’ll work alongside experienced Surveyors, assisting with crucial field operations that contribute to major projects across the region. This role involves significant outdoor work and travel, offering a diverse and engaging daily routine away from a desk. Key Responsibilities
- Assist Surveyors with all aspects of field surveying operations, including setting up equipment (GPS, Total Stations)
- Carry and set up surveying equipment, ensuring accuracy and proper function
- Clear vegetation and obstacles to ensure clear lines of sight for surveying instruments
- Accurately record field data and observations under the guidance of a Senior Surveyor
- Maintain and clean surveying equipment to ensure longevity and optimal performance
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company procedures at all times
- Assist with vehicle maintenance and packing of equipment for field trips
- Participate actively in all training programs provided by the company
Required Skills
- A strong willingness to learn and develop new skills
- Ability to work effectively in an outdoor environment, often in varying weather conditions
- Good physical fitness and ability to lift and carry equipment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A keen eye for detail and accuracy
- Strong commitment to workplace safety
- Valid Australian driver's license (manual preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Certificate or equivalent
- Previous experience working outdoors (e.g., farming, construction, landscaping)
- Basic understanding of mathematics and geometry
- First Aid Certificate
