Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and reliable individuals to join our team as Tomato Pickers in a controlled greenhouse environment. This ongoing full-time position involves the careful harvesting of ripe tomatoes, ensuring quality standards are met for our valued customers. Full training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking stable employment in the agricultural sector, even without prior experience. The role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Carefully pick ripe tomatoes according to specified quality standards and size.
- Monitor plants for readiness and report any issues or abnormalities to supervisors.
- Assist with basic greenhouse maintenance tasks, such as pruning or tying plants, as needed.
- Sort and pack harvested produce efficiently and accurately.
- Adhere to all food safety and occupational health and safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area.
- Contribute to a positive and productive team environment.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform repetitive tasks, including bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to work effectively in a warm and humid greenhouse environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify ripe produce.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in horticulture or agricultural settings is a plus, but not essential.
- Basic understanding of plant care or willingness to learn.
- Current driver's license and reliable transport.
