Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Trade Commission Assistant to join our dynamic team in Redcliffe. This entry-to-mid level role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to Australia’s international trade efforts and gain valuable experience in global relations. You will provide essential support to trade advisors, assist with market research, stakeholder engagement, and administrative tasks, playing a vital role in facilitating connections between local businesses and international markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on international markets, trade policies, and economic trends relevant to Australian businesses.
- Provide administrative and logistical support for trade missions, events, and meetings.
- Assist with the preparation of reports, presentations, and correspondence for internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain and update databases of business contacts and market intelligence.
- Respond to enquiries from businesses seeking international trade advice, directing them to appropriate resources.
- Coordinate appointments and travel arrangements for trade advisors.
- Support the team in managing stakeholder relationships with local businesses, industry associations, and government agencies.
Required Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities, with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to conduct effective research and synthesise information.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Basic understanding of international trade concepts or a keen interest in global affairs.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in International Relations, Business, Economics, Political Science, or a related field.
- Experience in an administrative or support role, particularly within government, international relations, or business.
- Familiarity with CRM systems or database management.
- Proficiency in an additional language relevant to key Australian trade partners (e.g., Mandarin, Japanese, Hindi, Spanish).
