Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Triage / Telehealth Nurse to join our growing team in Calgary. This pivotal role involves providing professional nursing advice, health education, and symptom management guidance to patients via telephone or digital platforms. You will be instrumental in assessing patient needs, determining the appropriate level of care, and coordinating referrals to healthcare providers or emergency services. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive telephonic assessments of patient symptoms and health concerns.
- Utilize clinical decision-making protocols and nursing judgment to determine the urgency and appropriate level of care required.
- Provide evidence-based health information, education, and self-care advice to patients and families.
- Document all patient interactions accurately and thoroughly in electronic health records.
- Coordinate referrals to physicians, specialists, emergency services, or other healthcare resources as needed.
- Educate patients on medication management, chronic disease management, and preventative health measures.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to all ethical and professional nursing standards.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training pertinent to telehealth practices.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure continuity of care.
Required Skills
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for licensure in Alberta, Canada.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent clinical experience in an acute care setting (e.g., emergency, medical-surgical, critical care).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in clinical assessment and critical thinking.
- Strong computer literacy and ability to navigate electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain composure and provide empathetic care under pressure.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous quality improvement.
- Eligibility for Canadian work visa/permit (visa sponsorship provided).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Previous experience in telehealth, telephone triage, or remote patient monitoring.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- Familiarity with Alberta's healthcare system and resources.
- Proficiency in additional languages is an asset.
