Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Virtual Legal Aide to join our remote team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual eager to start a career in the legal field, supporting our dedicated public defenders from the comfort of their home. As a Virtual Legal Aide, you will play a crucial role in assisting our legal professionals with various tasks, contributing to the efficient operation of our services and ultimately helping to ensure fair legal outcomes for our clients. Full training will be provided, making this an ideal role for entry-level candidates with a strong desire to learn and contribute.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, proofread, and format legal documents, correspondence, and reports.
  • Conduct basic legal research under the guidance of attorneys.
  • Organize and maintain electronic client files and case management systems.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments, court dates, and meetings for public defenders.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, and other stakeholders via phone and email.
  • Transcribe dictations and meeting notes accurately.
  • Perform general administrative tasks to support the legal team.

Required Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite, email, internet).
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
  • High level of empathy and discretion when handling sensitive client information.
  • Eagerness to learn legal procedures and terminology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in an administrative or customer service role.
