Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and safety-conscious individuals to join our team as a Trainee Wind Turbine Blade Inspector. This is an incredible opportunity for someone looking to start a career in the rapidly growing renewable energy sector, even without prior experience. Full comprehensive training will be provided to equip you with the skills and certifications necessary for this critical role. You will be responsible for inspecting wind turbine blades for defects, ensuring their optimal performance and longevity. This role requires a strong comfort with working at significant heights and a willingness to travel extensively to various wind farm sites across the UK and potentially beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Undergo and successfully complete all required training for GWO (Global Wind Organisation) certifications, including Working at Heights and First Aid.
- Conduct thorough visual inspections of wind turbine blades from suspended platforms or via rope access, once certified.
- Identify and document various types of blade defects, such as cracks, erosion, and delaminations.
- Utilise inspection tools and software to record findings accurately and efficiently.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company procedures while working at heights and on site.
- Collaborate effectively with experienced inspectors and maintenance teams.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and contribute to scheduled maintenance planning.
- Travel to various wind farm locations, often requiring overnight stays.
- Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities.
Required Skills
- A strong and proven comfort level with heights.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively and work away from home for extended periods.
- Excellent physical fitness and ability to perform demanding tasks.
- Keen attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer literacy for data entry and report generation.
- A full UK driving licence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a physically demanding role or outdoor work.
- Any prior experience with rope access or industrial climbing.
- Basic understanding of wind energy or mechanical systems.
- NVQ or equivalent in a relevant technical field.
