Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Fire Alarm Technician to join our team in Carnarvon, Western Australia. This role focuses on ongoing service work, including the inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of various fire alarm systems. You will be responsible for ensuring that all fire protection systems comply with Australian Standards and client specifications, contributing directly to the safety and security of our clients’ premises. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of fire alarm systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems in accordance with Australian Standards (AS 1851, AS 1670).
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in fire alarm panels, detectors, and associated equipment.
  • Execute repairs and replacements of faulty components.
  • Complete all necessary documentation, including service reports, fault reports, and compliance certificates.
  • Provide technical support and advice to clients regarding their fire alarm systems.
  • Participate in an on-call roster for emergency service, as required.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fire protection codes, standards, and new technologies.
  • Adhere strictly to all WHS policies and procedures on site.

Required Skills

  • Relevant trade qualification (e.g., Certificate III in Electrotechnology or equivalent).
  • Current A-Grade Electrician's Licence (or equivalent) in Western Australia.
  • Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in servicing and maintaining fire alarm systems.
  • Solid understanding of Australian Standards relevant to fire protection (e.g., AS 1851, AS 1670).
  • Excellent diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid Australian Driver's Licence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with various fire alarm brands and systems (e.g., Notifier, Ampac, Pertronic).
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certificate.
  • Working at Heights and Confined Space entry tickets.
  • Experience with other fire suppression systems (e.g., sprinklers, gas suppression).
