Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Wind Turbine Technician to join our dynamic team operating in the resource sector. This is a Fly-In/Fly-Out (FIFO) position, requiring regular travel to remote wind farm sites across Australia from your base in Murray Bridge. You will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of wind turbine generators and associated equipment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability of our renewable energy assets. This role demands a strong commitment to safety, technical proficiency, and the ability to work independently or as part of a small team in challenging environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, unscheduled maintenance, and repair work on wind turbines and associated infrastructure.
  • Conduct fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Execute repairs and replacements of components as per manufacturer specifications and safety guidelines.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies, including working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Complete accurate and timely reporting of all maintenance activities, including work orders, defect reports, and inventory usage.
  • Participate in on-site safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training programs.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles to a high standard.
  • Collaborate effectively with site managers, engineers, and other technicians.

Required Skills

  • Australian recognised Electrical Trade Qualification (Electrician's License) or Mechanical Trade Qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience as a Wind Turbine Technician or similar heavy industrial maintenance role.
  • Demonstrated experience with wind turbine generator systems (e.g., Vestas, Siemens Gamesa, GE, Nordex).
  • Current Working at Heights certification.
  • Current Confined Space Entry certification.
  • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Valid Australian Driver's License.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol screening for FIFO roles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High Voltage Switching accreditation.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • EWP (Elevated Work Platform) license.
  • Forklift license.
  • Specific OEM training certifications for major wind turbine brands.
