Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Youth Services Coordinator to lead our local government outreach initiatives. This pivotal role involves designing, implementing, and evaluating programs that engage young people (aged 12-25) within the Fremantle area. You will be responsible for building strong relationships with local schools, community groups, and youth organizations, ensuring that the City’s services are accessible and responsive to the needs of young people. The successful candidate will be a strong advocate for youth, possessing excellent communication, project management, and community engagement skills. This position requires a proactive approach to youth development, focusing on participation, well-being, and civic engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver innovative youth engagement programs and initiatives across the City of Fremantle.
- Act as a primary liaison between the City of Fremantle and local youth, schools, and community organizations.
- Coordinate and facilitate youth forums, workshops, and advisory groups to gather feedback and promote civic participation.
- Prepare reports, funding applications, and presentations on youth services outcomes and recommendations.
- Manage program budgets, resources, and administrative tasks efficiently.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of youth programs, making adjustments as necessary.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in youth development and local government policies.
- Advocate for youth needs and interests within the City's strategic planning and decision-making processes.
- Supervise and mentor junior staff or volunteers involved in youth programs.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated experience in youth work, community development, or related fields.
- Proven ability to plan, implement, and evaluate community programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, suitable for diverse audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build rapport with young people, families, and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Current Working With Children Check (or ability to obtain).
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Youth Work, Community Development, Social Sciences, Education, or a related discipline.
- Experience working within a local government context.
- Knowledge of local youth services and networks within the Fremantle area.
- First Aid Certificate.
