Job Description
We are actively seeking a highly motivated and physically capable Live Sound Engineering Assistant to join our dynamic production team. This is an outstanding opportunity for individuals with a passion for live music and events who are eager to learn and grow within the technical realm of sound engineering. Your primary responsibilities will involve the critical physical setup, efficient tear-down, and safe transportation of various audio equipment. You will also provide essential on-site support to our experienced lead sound engineers during live events. We are committed to your growth and will provide comprehensive on-the-job training in sound equipment operation, signal flow, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely assist with the loading, unloading, and transportation of heavy audio equipment, including speakers, amplifiers, equipment cases, and cabling.
- Execute the precise setup and tear-down of stages, speaker systems, rigging, cabling, and other live sound infrastructure according to detailed technical specifications and schematics.
- Provide general and critical on-site support to lead sound engineers throughout soundchecks, rehearsals, and live performances.
- Perform routine basic maintenance, cleaning, and meticulous organization of audio equipment both in our warehouse facility and on event sites.
- Actively contribute to maintaining a safe working environment by diligently adhering to all company and industry safety protocols and guidelines.
- Efficiently run and manage cables, position microphone stands, and deploy other necessary accessories as directed by senior staff.
- Demonstrate an eagerness to learn and eventually assist with basic mixer operation, optimal microphone placement, and understanding signal flow.
- Respond quickly to on-site needs and unforeseen challenges during events.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated ability to lift and carry heavy equipment repeatedly and safely (up to 75 lbs is often required).
- Possess a strong work ethic, exceptional reliability, and a proactive attitude.
- Exhibit excellent teamwork and clear communication skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Availability and willingness to work irregular hours, which frequently include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- A genuine eagerness and strong aptitude for learning about live sound production and technology.
- Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation to and from our warehouse and event sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a physically demanding role, general labor, or event setup/crew work.
- Basic foundational knowledge or a strong, demonstrable interest in audio equipment, music production, or electronics.
- Experience operating forklifts or scissor lifts (relevant certification is a significant plus).
- High school diploma or equivalent educational background.
