Job Description
Are you passionate about the outdoors and eager to inspire others? Tropical North Adventures is seeking enthusiastic individuals for our Outdoor Education Intern – Adventure Leadership Training program. This is a unique opportunity for aspiring outdoor professionals to gain hands-on experience, develop essential leadership skills, and contribute to transformative adventure programs. No prior experience in outdoor education is required; we provide comprehensive training and mentorship from experienced professionals to help you succeed. Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead educators in delivering engaging outdoor adventure programs across various natural settings.
- Support program logistics, including equipment preparation, site setup, and post-program breakdown.
- Learn and diligently apply established safety protocols and risk management procedures to ensure participant well-being.
- Facilitate group activities, encourage participant engagement, and foster a positive learning environment.
- Observe, participate in, and eventually lead segments of leadership development workshops and team-building exercises.
- Contribute to the ongoing maintenance and inventory management of adventure equipment and program areas.
- Actively engage in all professional development opportunities, training sessions, and debriefs.
- Serve as a positive role model for participants, demonstrating enthusiasm, responsibility, and teamwork.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of connecting with diverse groups.
- Enthusiastic, positive, and proactive attitude with a strong work ethic.

- Willingness to learn, adapt, and thrive in dynamic and sometimes challenging outdoor settings.
- Physical fitness suitable for outdoor work, including hiking, carrying equipment, and navigating varied terrains.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to all operational guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon commencement).
- Previous volunteer or paid experience in youth programs, education, or outdoor settings.
- Familiarity with the natural environment, flora, and fauna of Tropical North Queensland.
- Actively working towards or holding a degree/diploma in Outdoor Education, Environmental Science, Tourism, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in leadership roles within community groups, sports teams, or similar.
