Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Tunnel Operations Support – Traffic Management professional to join our team in Perth. In this crucial role, you will contribute to the safe and efficient operation of our road networks, with a specific focus on tunnel environments and traffic management systems. You will be instrumental in monitoring traffic flow, identifying incidents, and supporting the coordination of response activities to ensure optimal tunnel performance and traveler safety. This position involves working within a control room environment, utilizing advanced monitoring and communication tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor real-time traffic conditions and system alarms within tunnel environments using CCTV and SCADA systems.
- Assist in the coordination of incident response and emergency services during critical events, following established protocols.
- Communicate effectively with on-road crews, emergency services, and other stakeholders.
- Operate and manage various intelligent transport systems (ITS) components, including variable message signs (VMS) and lane usage signals.
- Document incidents, actions taken, and operational activities accurately and thoroughly.
- Conduct regular system checks and report any equipment malfunctions or issues.
- Contribute to post-incident reviews and operational reporting.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and operational guidelines.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a control room, operations centre, or similar fast-paced environment.
- Strong observation skills and attention to detail for monitoring complex systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to make quick, informed decisions under pressure.
- Proficiency in using computer systems and basic office software.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
- Ability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in traffic management, transportation operations, or emergency services.
- Familiarity with Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and SCADA systems.
- Tertiary qualification in a related field (e.g., logistics, emergency management, operations management).
- First Aid and/or CPR certification.
