As a Telecommunicator, you will be the calm voice on the other end of the line, receiving emergency calls, dispatching resources, and providing critical support during high-stress situations. Key Responsibilities
- Receive and evaluate incoming emergency (000) and non-emergency calls with professionalism and empathy.
- Accurately gather critical information from callers to assess the nature and urgency of incidents.
- Prioritise and dispatch police resources efficiently and effectively to incident locations.
- Maintain clear and concise radio communication with field units, providing necessary updates and support.
- Record detailed and accurate information into computer-aided dispatch systems.
- Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers in life-threatening situations.
- Collaborate with other emergency service agencies as required.
- Adhere to all Queensland Police Service policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
Required Skills
- Exceptional verbal communication and active listening skills.
- Strong ability to remain calm and composed in stressful or high-pressure situations.
- Demonstrated empathy and compassion towards individuals in distress.
- Basic computer proficiency and the ability to learn new software quickly.
- Sound decision-making abilities and problem-solving aptitude.
- Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining accuracy.
- Reliability and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service or call centre environment.
- Knowledge of the Gympie and surrounding Queensland geographical area.
- A current First Aid and/or CPR certification.
