Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Science Student for a Lab Quality Control placement in our Carnarvon facility. This is an excellent opportunity for a student pursuing a science-related degree to gain practical, hands-on experience in a real-world agricultural quality control environment. You will support our team in ensuring the highest standards of product quality, safety, and compliance through various laboratory testing and analysis procedures. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with routine quality control testing of fresh produce samples, including Brix, pH, and firmness measurements.
- Prepare samples and reagents for laboratory analysis following established protocols.
- Accurately record and document test results, maintaining meticulous lab records.
- Support the laboratory team in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Learn and adhere to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and food safety standards.
- Assist with calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment under supervision.
- Participate in data entry and basic analysis of quality control information.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Science, Food Science, Agriculture, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
- Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A genuine interest in food quality, agriculture, and laboratory work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous exposure to a laboratory setting (e.g., university lab practicals).
- Understanding of basic scientific principles and laboratory safety.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- A proactive and eager-to-learn attitude.
