Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Gastroenterologist to join our esteemed medical team in Chesterfield. This pivotal role involves providing comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients with a wide range of gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary conditions. The successful candidate will be committed to delivering outstanding patient care, contributing to our clinical excellence, and participating in the advancement of gastroenterology services within our facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert consultation, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with gastrointestinal diseases.
  • Perform a full range of endoscopic procedures including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, and ERCP, ensuring adherence to best practice guidelines.
  • Manage acute and chronic gastrointestinal conditions, including inflammatory bowel disease, liver diseases, pancreatic disorders, and gastrointestinal cancers.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to formulate comprehensive patient care plans.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and medical education.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior medical staff and trainees.

Required Skills

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a Licence to Practise.
  • CCT in Gastroenterology (or equivalent specialist registration).
  • Extensive experience in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing complex gastrointestinal conditions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to patient safety and clinical excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced endoscopic procedures (e.g., EUS, capsule endoscopy).
  • Participation in clinical research or publications in gastroenterology.
  • Leadership experience within a clinical setting.
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g., British Society of Gastroenterology).
