Job Description
Are you a highly skilled and empathetic Registered Nurse looking to transition your clinical expertise into a rewarding assessment role? NHS Tayside is seeking a compassionate Nurse Assessor to join our professional team in Dundee. This pivotal role involves conducting comprehensive health and care needs assessments for individuals, ensuring fair and accurate evaluations that inform appropriate support and service provision. You will apply your expert clinical judgment in a non-direct care setting, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to make a tangible difference in people’s lives. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough and holistic assessments of individuals' health and care needs, encompassing physical, mental, and social factors.
- Utilize clinical knowledge and best practice guidelines to determine eligibility for various healthcare and social care services.
- Interpret complex medical information, reports, and clinical data to support assessment findings.
- Produce clear, concise, and evidence-based reports documenting assessment outcomes and recommendations.
- Collaborate effectively with patients, families, carers, and a range of healthcare professionals and agencies.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with professional, ethical, and organizational standards.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training pertinent to the role of a Nurse Assessor.
- Adhere to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to healthcare assessment and provision.
Required Skills
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (Adult, Mental Health, or Learning Disability) with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- Minimum of 2 years post-registration nursing experience in a clinical setting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to evaluate diverse health needs
- Proficiency in IT systems, including electronic record-keeping and standard office software
- Ability to work autonomously while also being a collaborative team member
- Demonstrable commitment to continuous professional development
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in health assessment, community nursing, continuing healthcare, or a similar review-based role
- Knowledge of relevant healthcare legislation, frameworks, and policies in Scotland
- Post-registration qualification in a relevant specialty or advanced practice
- Experience working with diverse patient populations and complex needs
