Job Description

Join Nottinghamshire County Council as a Community Minibus Driver and play a crucial role in providing safe, reliable, and friendly transport for our residents. This position involves driving minibuses to transport passengers, including the elderly and those with disabilities, to various destinations across Nottinghamshire. We are looking for compassionate individuals with excellent driving skills and a commitment to passenger safety and comfort. Full training will be provided for the D1 minibus entitlement if you do not currently hold it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a minibus on scheduled routes and ad-hoc journeys across Nottinghamshire.
  • Assist passengers, including those with mobility challenges, with boarding and disembarking the vehicle.
  • Conduct daily vehicle safety checks and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate journey records and passenger logs.
  • Ensure the vehicle is kept clean and tidy, adhering to hygiene standards.
  • Provide a friendly, helpful, and professional service to all passengers.
  • Adhere to all road safety regulations and council transport policies.
  • Manage passenger queries and provide assistance as needed.

Required Skills

  • Valid UK Driving License (Category B) held for a minimum of 2 years.
  • Clean driving record with no more than 3 penalty points.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and responsible approach to working with community members.
  • Strong commitment to road safety and passenger well-being.
  • Willingness to undergo training for the D1 minibus driving entitlement (if not already held).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current D1 minibus driving entitlement.
  • Previous experience in community transport or professional driving.
  • Basic First Aid qualification.
  • Knowledge of Mansfield and wider Nottinghamshire road networks.
  • Experience working with vulnerable adults or children.
