Job Description

Nuffield Health is seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Private Duty Nurse to provide dedicated, individualized care to patients within their own homes or private residences in the Cardiff area. This role requires a nurse who can work autonomously, manage complex care plans, and maintain the highest standards of clinical excellence and patient confidentiality. You will be responsible for a range of nursing duties tailored to the specific needs of your patient, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive, one-on-one nursing care in a private setting.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, symptoms, and medical information accurately.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with the patient, family, and medical team.
  • Assist with personal care activities, including hygiene, mobility, and feeding, as needed.
  • Educate patients and families on health management, medication administration, and disease prevention.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all ethical and professional nursing standards.
  • Communicate effectively with the patient, family, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide first aid or CPR when necessary.
  • Document all aspects of patient care thoroughly and accurately.

Required Skills

  • Registered Nurse (RN) qualification with current NMC registration.
  • Minimum of 2 years post-registration nursing experience, preferably in a community, home health, or acute care setting.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and manage complex patient cases.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and empathy skills.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities.
  • Valid UK driving license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) certifications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in palliative care, chronic disease management, or gerontology.
  • Post-registration qualification in a relevant specialty (e.g., community nursing, wound care).
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Fluency in Welsh is a plus but not required.
