Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Tree Surgeon to join our maintenance team in Dandenong. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a wide range of arboricultural tasks, ensuring the health, safety, and aesthetic appeal of trees within our client portfolio. This role requires proficiency in climbing, rigging, pruning, and safe operation of various arborist equipment, all while adhering to industry best practices and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute tree pruning, shaping, and removal operations using industry-approved techniques.
- Perform complex tree climbing and aerial work with ropes and harnesses, or elevated work platforms (EWP).
- Operate and maintain chainsaws, wood chippers, stump grinders, and other specialized arborist equipment safely and efficiently.
- Conduct tree health assessments and identify potential hazards or diseases.
- Implement traffic management plans and ensure site safety for team members and the public.
- Assist with tree planting, mulching, and general site cleanup.
- Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and relevant Australian standards.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
- Liaise with clients on-site as required, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
Required Skills
- Certificate III in Arboriculture or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a Tree Surgeon or Arborist.
- Demonstrated proficiency in advanced tree climbing and rigging techniques.
- Competency in operating chainsaws, chippers, and other arborist equipment.
- Current driver's license (Manual preferred).
- Strong understanding of tree biology, pathology, and industry safety standards.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Elevated Work Platform (EWP) license.
- Truck license (MR or HR).
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Traffic Management certification.
- Advanced knowledge of Australian native tree species.
