Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Support Worker to join our team in Bridgwater, Somerset. This pivotal role involves providing high-quality, person-centred care and support to adults with learning disabilities, promoting their independence, dignity, and choice. As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in mentoring new staff, coordinating care plans, and ensuring the smooth running of daily operations within our supported living services. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct person-centred support to individuals with learning disabilities, respecting their choices and promoting independence.
- Assist with personal care, medication administration, mobility, and community engagement as required.
- Develop, implement, and review personalised care plans in collaboration with service users, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Act as a role model and mentor to less experienced support workers, providing guidance and support.
- Coordinate daily activities, appointments, and outings for service users.
- Ensure compliance with all CQC regulations, company policies, and safeguarding procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and complete administrative tasks.
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing training and development programs.
- Identify and respond to challenging behaviours in a calm and effective manner, implementing agreed strategies.
- Support individuals in managing their finances and maintaining their living environment.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a support worker role, specifically with individuals with learning disabilities.
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) or working towards it.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and CQC regulations.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and care plans.
- Compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to care.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable due to location and client needs).
- Right to work in the UK or eligibility for Certificate of Sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a senior or supervisory support role.
- Knowledge of positive behaviour support strategies.
- First Aid qualification.
- Experience with complex needs and challenging behaviour.
