Job Description

Are you passionate about making a difference in a child’s education? Kip McGrath Education Centres in Glenelg is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated After School Tutors to join our team. This part-time role involves working with students in small groups, providing personalized instruction in English and Maths, primarily during afternoon hours. If you have a strong academic background, excellent communication skills, and a desire to help young learners succeed, we encourage you to apply. Full training will be provided to ensure you are confident and equipped to support our students effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and effective one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions in English and/or Mathematics.
  • Assess student progress and adapt teaching methods to meet individual learning needs.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students and maintain positive communication with parents/guardians regarding student performance.
  • Prepare and organize teaching materials and resources.
  • Ensure a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Adhere to Kip McGrath's curriculum guidelines and teaching methodologies.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and progress.
  • Collaborate with the centre director and other tutors to share best practices.

Required Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of primary or secondary school English and/or Mathematics curriculum.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children and young people.
  • Ability to explain complex concepts clearly and simply.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to established tutoring methods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently studying or holding a degree in Education, Teaching, Mathematics, English, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in tutoring, teaching, or mentoring children.
  • A current South Australian Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Familiarity with the Australian curriculum.
