Job Description
Are you passionate about plants and enjoy working outdoors? Bloom & Grow Garden Centre is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Garden Center Watering Assistant to join our friendly team. This entry-level position is perfect for someone eager to learn about plant care and contribute to maintaining our beautiful displays. You will be responsible for ensuring all plants are adequately watered and healthy, playing a crucial role in our garden center’s daily operations and the overall customer experience. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily watering of all plants, ensuring optimal moisture levels for various species.
- Monitor plant health, identifying any signs of stress, disease, or pests and reporting them to senior staff.
- Assist with moving and arranging plants to optimize display and watering efficiency.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of watering equipment and surrounding areas.
- Provide basic assistance to customers regarding plant location and general care questions.
- Support the wider team with general garden center duties as required, including merchandising and stock rotation.
- Adhere to all health and safety guidelines within the garden center environment.
Required Skills
- A strong interest in plants and horticulture.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to tasks.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy items (e.g., watering cans, plant pots).
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player.
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
- Basic communication skills for interacting with colleagues and customers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in an outdoor environment or retail setting.
- Some basic knowledge of plant care (even from personal gardening).
