Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Heavy Rigging Supervisor to join our dynamic team in Bristol. This critical role involves overseeing complex lifting and rigging operations for large-scale infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and precise execution of all rigging activities, leading a team of rigging professionals. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, supervise, and execute all heavy lifting and rigging operations in accordance with project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop detailed rigging plans, lift studies, and risk assessments for complex lifts.
- Direct and coordinate the activities of rigging teams, ensuring efficient use of personnel and equipment.
- Inspect rigging equipment, cranes, and lifting accessories to ensure they are in safe working condition and certified for use.
- Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures on site.
- Provide mentorship and training to rigging crew members, promoting continuous professional development.
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of rigging operations into overall project timelines.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any operational challenges that arise during rigging activities.
- Maintain accurate records of all lifting operations, equipment inspections, and safety briefings.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Heavy Rigging Supervisor or similar leadership role in heavy construction or engineering projects.
- Extensive knowledge of heavy lifting equipment, rigging techniques, and load calculations.
- Demonstrable understanding of relevant safety regulations and industry best practices (e.g., LOLER, PUWER).
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, lift plans, and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in conducting risk assessments and developing safe systems of work.
- Valid rigging certifications (e.g., LEEA, ECITB, or equivalent international qualifications).
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant vocational qualification or technical diploma in rigging, lifting operations, or mechanical engineering.
- Experience with diverse types of cranes, including crawler, mobile, and tower cranes.
- Familiarity with project management software and safety management systems.
- Previous experience working on major infrastructure or energy projects.
- First Aid and advanced safety certifications.
