Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Solar Farm Groundskeeper to maintain the grounds of our solar energy facilities in the Springfield area. This full-time, permanent position involves a variety of outdoor tasks crucial to the efficient and safe operation of our solar farms. You will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, aesthetic appeal, and proper functionality of the site’s natural environment, contributing directly to our renewable energy mission. This is a hands-on role requiring comfort with outdoor work in various weather conditions and the ability to operate groundskeeping equipment safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general groundskeeping duties including mowing, trimming, weeding, and edging around solar panels, fences, and facility buildings.
- Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools safely and efficiently.
- Remove debris, litter, and overgrown vegetation from the solar farm site to prevent shading of panels and maintain site integrity.
- Monitor and report any issues related to landscaping, irrigation systems, or site security to supervisors.
- Assist with minor repairs and maintenance tasks on site as directed.
- Follow all safety protocols and company policies, especially when working around electrical equipment and in varying outdoor conditions.
- Participate in seasonal tasks such as snow removal or planting as required.
- Ensure a clean and organized work environment for tools and equipment.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Proficiency in operating common groundskeeping equipment (mowers, trimmers, etc.).
- Basic understanding of plant care and landscaping principles.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to site maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or a similar outdoor physical role.
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to outdoor equipment operation and electrical sites.
- Experience with irrigation systems maintenance.
