Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Social Worker to join our Child Protection team. This pivotal role involves responding to allegations of child abuse and neglect, conducting thorough assessments, and implementing interventions to ensure the safety and welfare of children in Multnomah County. You will work directly with children, families, and community partners, navigating complex situations with professionalism and empathy. This position requires a strong commitment to child advocacy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. Full visa sponsorship and comprehensive relocation support are provided for eligible candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive investigations into allegations of child abuse and neglect.
  • Assess child safety and risk factors, making crucial decisions regarding immediate protection.
  • Develop and implement individualized service plans for children and families.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support to families in vulnerable situations.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, schools, healthcare providers, and other community agencies.
  • Prepare accurate and timely documentation, including reports and court petitions.
  • Testify in court proceedings as required.
  • Facilitate family meetings and coordinate access to community resources.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines and legal mandates.

Required Skills

  • Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
  • Current Social Worker license or eligibility for licensure in the State of Oregon.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in child welfare, family services, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child development, family dynamics, and trauma-informed care principles.
  • Ability to conduct thorough assessments and make sound professional judgments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and cultural backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Oregon state child welfare policies and procedures.
  • Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish, Vietnamese, Mandarin, or Russian).
  • Experience in court advocacy and testimony.
  • Additional certifications in specialized areas such as forensic interviewing or domestic violence.
