Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically active City Bike Share Fleet Mechanic for outdoor maintenance in Corner Brook. In this role, you will be responsible for the on-site inspection, repair, and maintenance of our fleet of public bicycles. This position requires hands-on mechanical work, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work independently in various outdoor weather conditions. You will be an essential part of keeping our bike share program running smoothly, ensuring the safety and functionality of our bicycles for daily use.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and safety checks on all fleet bicycles.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues including brakes, gears, tires, and frames on-site.
- Conduct field repairs and adjustments across various locations within Corner Brook.
- Relocate bikes as needed to balance the distribution across docking stations.
- Document all maintenance and repair activities accurately using our digital system.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies while performing duties.
- Communicate effectively with team members regarding fleet status and repair needs.
- Maintain a clean and organized work vehicle and toolset.
- Provide exceptional customer service when interacting with bike share users in the field.
Required Skills
- Basic bicycle repair and maintenance knowledge.
- Ability to use common hand tools for mechanical repairs.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform tasks requiring bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Punctual, reliable, and able to work independently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a bicycle mechanic or in a similar field.
- Knowledge of bike share systems and technology.
- Experience with basic welding or metalwork.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
