Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Airfield Operations Manager to lead our airfield team. This critical role ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all airfield activities, 24/7. You will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing personnel, coordinating with various stakeholders, and implementing best practices to maintain the highest standards of safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise daily airfield operations, ensuring compliance with all aviation regulations (CAA, EASA, ICAO).
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Airfield Operations Officers, fostering a culture of safety and performance.
- Conduct regular airfield inspections, identifying and rectifying hazards, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Coordinate with air traffic control, airlines, ground handlers, and emergency services for seamless operations.
- Respond to and manage airfield incidents, emergencies, and adverse weather conditions, initiating appropriate action plans.
- Oversee the maintenance of airfield infrastructure, including runways, taxiways, and aprons.
- Develop and implement operational procedures, policies, and training programs.
- Manage operational budgets and resource allocation effectively.
- Prepare reports on airfield performance, incidents, and compliance.
- Act as a key liaison during audits and regulatory inspections.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in airfield operations, airport management, or a similar aviation leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of civil aviation regulations and airfield operational standards (e.g., CAP 168, EASA, ICAO Annex 14).
- Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Strong decision-making skills under pressure, especially during incident response.
- Proficiency in operational planning, risk assessment, and incident management systems.
- Valid UK Driving Licence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Aviation Management, Logistics, or a related field.
- Airfield Operations Officer (AOO) qualification or equivalent certification.
- Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Environmental Management Systems (EMS) in an airport context.
- Familiarity with airside vehicle operator permit (AVOP) schemes.
