Job Description

Join Fraser Health as a Behavioral Health Technician and become a vital part of our compassionate care team. This on-site role is perfect for individuals committed to making a difference in the lives of those facing mental health and substance use challenges. You will work under the supervision of clinical staff, assisting with the implementation of patient care plans, providing direct support, and maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care and support, including assistance with daily living activities.
  • Monitor and document patient behavior, mood, and progress, reporting observations to clinical staff.
  • Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment plans and behavioral interventions.
  • Facilitate therapeutic group activities and one-on-one interactions.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for patients.
  • Support patients in developing coping skills and achieving treatment goals.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality and adhere to all ethical and professional standards.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to care planning.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Basic computer proficiency for documentation.
  • Commitment to working respectfully with diverse populations.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada upon hire (assistance with immigration resources may be available).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., psychology, social work, community support).
  • Prior experience in a healthcare, social service, or caregiving setting (volunteer or paid).
  • Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the local community.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
