Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and organised Remote Building Permit Processor to join our dedicated planning and building control team. This 100% remote role involves processing building permit applications, ensuring compliance with local government regulations and standards. You will be a crucial point of contact for residents, contractors, and internal departments, guiding them through the permit application process and contributing to the safe and orderly development of our borough. Full training on specific council systems and processes will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, review, and process building permit applications and related documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Verify applications against local building codes, zoning ordinances, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with applicants, providing clear instructions, status updates, and requesting additional information as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of all permit applications, approvals, and denials in the council's database.
  • Coordinate with Building Inspectors and other departments to facilitate the review and approval process.
  • Prepare and issue permits, ensuring all conditions are met.
  • Respond to public inquiries regarding building codes, permit requirements, and application status.
  • Assist in preparing reports and statistics related to permit activities.
