Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Blacksmiths Striker to join our specialist fabrication team in Portsmouth. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to essential engineering projects and learn the traditional craft of blacksmithing within a modern industrial setting. As a Blacksmiths Striker, you will work closely with experienced blacksmiths, assisting in the forging, shaping, and repair of metal components crucial to our operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting master blacksmiths in the heating, shaping, and forming of metal using hand tools and power hammers.
  • Handling and preparing various types of metal stock for forging.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the blacksmith shop and tools.
  • Learning and applying safe working practices and procedures in a hot workshop environment.
  • Performing routine maintenance on tools and equipment.
  • Contributing to the efficient flow of work and adherence to project deadlines.
  • Developing an understanding of different metal properties and forging techniques.

  • Physical strength and stamina for demanding manual work.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
