Job Description

Société de transport de Laval (STL) invites motivated individuals to join our team as a Transit Operator / Bus Driver in Training. We offer a comprehensive, fully paid training program that will equip you with all the skills and knowledge needed to become a professional bus driver. Upon successful completion of the training and obtaining your Class 2 license, you will transition into a full-time Transit Operator role, providing essential transportation services to the citizens of Laval. Key Responsibilities

• Actively participate in and successfully complete all aspects of the paid bus driver training program.
• Learn to operate transit buses safely and efficiently on designated routes in various traffic and weather conditions.
• Adhere to schedules and specified timelines, ensuring punctual service.
• Develop skills in providing exceptional customer service, assisting passengers with information, and ensuring a pleasant ride.
• Practice collecting fares and issuing transfers accurately.
• Understand and perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus and learn to report any defects or issues.
• Ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers, including those with disabilities.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch and other STL personnel.
• Learn to respond to emergencies or incidents according to established procedures.

Required Skills

• Valid Quebec Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent provincial license) with a clean driving record.
• A strong commitment to safety and customer service excellence.
• Ability to communicate effectively in French (written and spoken).
• Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and medical examination, including drug and alcohol screening.
• No prior bus driving experience is required – full paid training will be provided.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a customer service-oriented role.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Bilingualism (French and English) is a strong asset.
