Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as an Entry-Level Hospital Porter. This is a vital full-time role within our healthcare system, requiring no prior experience. Full comprehensive training will be provided to ensure you are confident and capable in all aspects of the position. As a Hospital Porter, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of patients, equipment, and supplies throughout our facility, playing a crucial part in patient care and hospital operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport patients safely and comfortably by wheelchair, stretcher, or bed to various departments within the hospital (e.g., operating rooms, diagnostic imaging, patient rooms).
  • Move medical equipment, laboratory specimens, clean and soiled linen, and other supplies as required.
  • Assist with patient transfers to and from beds, stretchers, and wheelchairs, following proper lifting and safety protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of transport equipment and report any maintenance issues.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and infection control guidelines.
  • Respond promptly to requests from nursing staff and other departments.

Required Skills

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift/push/pull moderate to heavy loads.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Basic understanding of English, both written and spoken.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (will be provided if not already held).
