Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Remote Building Permit Processor to join our team. This role is crucial for supporting local government agencies by managing the intake, review, and processing of various building permit applications. You will ensure compliance with local codes and regulations, facilitating safe and timely construction projects within communities, all from a remote work setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and review building permit applications for completeness and accuracy, ensuring all necessary documentation is submitted.
  • Verify applications against established checklists, local ordinances, and building codes.
  • Communicate professionally with applicants, contractors, and internal departments to request additional information, clarify discrepancies, or provide status updates.
  • Input and maintain accurate data within permit tracking software and databases.
  • Coordinate with inspectors and plan reviewers to facilitate the permit review and approval workflow.
  • Process permit fees and issue approved permits in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding permit requirements, processes, and status in a timely and helpful manner.
  • Maintain organized digital records and documentation for all permit activities.
  • Identify and report any recurring issues or potential improvements in the permitting process.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in administrative support, data entry, or a related field, preferably within a government or regulatory environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and experience with database entry.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment.
