Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Rail / Permanent Way Engineer to join our dynamic team in Geelong, Victoria. As a Permanent Way Engineer, you will be instrumental in the design, analysis, and maintenance of rail infrastructure, ensuring compliance with Australian standards and project specifications. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review permanent way designs, including track alignments, geometrics, and earthworks.
  • Prepare technical specifications, reports, and drawings in accordance with project requirements and Australian rail standards.
  • Conduct site investigations, surveys, and assessments to inform design decisions and identify potential issues.
  • Participate in the planning, scheduling, and supervision of rail construction and maintenance activities.
  • Undertake structural analysis and calculations for rail components and systems.
  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, and contractors to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Ensure all work is conducted in compliance with safety regulations and quality management systems.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in permanent way design and rail engineering.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation) and rail specific design tools.
  • Strong understanding of railway standards, regulations, and best practices (e.g., ARTK, AS standards).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or working towards it.
  • Experience with Australian railway infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of BIM for rail projects.
  • Familiarity with various track forms and components (ballasted, slab track).
