Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Periodontist to join our established and thriving practice in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity for a specialist to work within a modern, well-equipped clinic, providing comprehensive periodontal care to a diverse patient base. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and preventing diseases of the gums and supporting structures of the teeth, as well as placing dental implants. You will collaborate with general dentists and other specialists to ensure seamless, multidisciplinary patient care, upholding Bupa’s high standards of quality and patient satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert diagnosis and treatment planning for complex periodontal cases.
- Perform a full range of periodontal surgical and non-surgical treatments, including scaling and root planing, gum grafting, osseous surgery, and regenerative procedures.
- Place and restore dental implants where appropriate, following best practice guidelines.
- Manage a referral base from within the practice and from external referring dentists.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records.
- Adhere to all clinical governance and regulatory standards (e.g., GDC, CQC).
- Participate in continuing professional development and team meetings.
- Collaborate with hygienists, dental nurses, and administrative staff to ensure efficient patient flow and exceptional service.
Required Skills
- GDC registration as a specialist in Periodontics.
- Eligible to work in the UK.
- Proven experience in providing advanced periodontal treatments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong commitment to patient care and clinical excellence.
- Up-to-date knowledge of current periodontal practices and technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification in Periodontics (e.g., MClinDent, MDentSci, PhD).
- Experience with various implant systems.
- A track record of successful patient outcomes and positive patient feedback.
- Involvement in teaching or mentoring junior colleagues.
